Mr
What a pity the club is not on every month! It's a great atmosphere and there have been some great guests. What about some less known bands on the circuit?: They can't charge mutch and would love to play. People like ; Kin, Fine Friday, Belleview Rendezvous and the Wild Myrtles! Oh sorry, you've already booked the latter! Keep up the good work
The City Sinners night, although a change of venue, was well worth it. Pity more pe3ople couldn't attend. They are great exponents of new country as well as telling the Gram Parson's story. Well done to the Place for putting on such a wide variety of musical genres. Especially Country!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One of the best Open Mike nights in Glasgow with its relaxed cafe setting and the tour de force that is Erne Parkin, playing host and performing with the fantastic Cross Border Band. In addition you are also likely to find an array of musicians performing all types of music including folk, indie, country, blues and Americana. What a treat. However, I would return just to catch The Cross Border Band, made up of a multi-talented threesome - Erne, Mike Simons and Linsey Aitken. The band performs a wide range of contemporary and traditional songs, including many of Erne's own compositions. He is a man born to entertain and his sidekicks sparkle in their own right with some virtuoso finger-picking guitar from Mike and Linsey's mesmerising cello playing. The tunes are superb, the harmonies excellent and the three show off their comic talents to great advantage - verging into the realms of rather rioutous musical comedy
I was at the Mugdock festival this year whIch I believe the Place organiser, Erne - had a lot to do with? It was cracking!!!!!!!!!Especially the Saturday. Sunday was poor weather but where else could you experience Samba Sene, Beats of Brazil and Cross Border Band for five quid!!!!!!!!!!!!!Rain and midges aside...well done!!!!!!!!
Why isn't The Place involved with the new Books & Arts festival? As an integral contributor to the social life in Milngavie it's essential that the festival includes all local art & music groups. If however you were not invited to be part of it then it's their loss. What a pity! I looked at their programme of events and you are not included....perhaps someone should contact them on your behalf?
A very different night at the club. Well done for trying something so different! Their harmonies were superb and choice of song...brilliant. Thoroughly enjoyed it and it was our first time there...but we will be back! Great entertainment! R&M
Hi there! We were at the McCalman night and have seen them on many occassions and this was a great performance. Well done on the ticket price! How do you keep it such good value!
A word on he McCalmans gig! It was very busy and we were at the side but the sound was exceptional in such a small venue. They were very good and I enjoyed the night very much, especially your resident band. But...could you do something about the heating?????????? It was so hot!
How about the Swingcats? I know you've hyad them on before a few years back but I for one would love to see them back! And Prelude? Well done by the way on a great club!
