 Cross Border Band at the Place The Place Music Club in Milngavie exists to promote local musicians and singers and present major artists on tour, from every genre of Music.
The club is held monthly usually on a Saturday starting at 7.30pm in the Fraser Centre in Milngavie Precinct, The friendly cafe-style setting is ideal for artists and guests. The organisers encourage local talent to perform on many of their ‘Open Mike’ nights and have a resident group by the name of ‘The Cross Border Band.’  The McCalmans at the PLACE - March 2008 Well known artists who have appeared include; DickGaughan, Michael Marra, Archie Fisher, Prelude. The McCalmans, Swing Cats, Mike Whellans, The Poozies, Seylan Baxter & Cheyenne Brown, and many others. Part of the proceeds from each session goes towards helping Aids Orphans in a feeding station in Ethiopia.  The friendly convivial cafe atmosphere of the PLACE The Place welcomes new musicians and at present has a club database of approximately 250 members.
Tickets for the various events are usually sold through ‘The Iron Chef’ in Milngavie Precinct. Contact Erne Parkin for more details of artistsappearing, ticket sales/booking and more ‘Open Mike' nights. |
